ABOUT ABOUT

Santa Fe Women to Women Luncheon with Teresa Leger Fernandez, founder of Leger Law & Strategy, a social impact law firm in Santa Fe, and candidate for New Mexico's 3rd Congressional District. Her talk: Contando Cuentos: Making Housing Affordable, Available, and Sustainable.

Teresa Leger Fernandez founded Leger Law & Strategy, a social impact law firm in Santa Fe. She has spent her career working on behalf of New Mexico’s communities — serving 20 years as Board Chair or on the executive committee of Homewise. She has served as General Counsel to several Native American tribes and their business enterprises, as well as worked with community leaders on voting rights and community development. Appointed by President Clinton as a White House Fellow, she worked on the first White House Conference on housing as a special assistant to HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros. President Obama appointed her Vice Chair of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, where housing was also a key issue. After graduating from Yale University and Stanford Law School, she returned home to Northern New Mexico to work and raise her family in her community. Building on her history of community work and service, Teresa is now running for Congress to represent New Mexico's 3rd District. The democratic primary election will be held on June 2, 2020.
